I recommend minio. It hasn't been updated in a while, but the documentation is wonderful, it has multiple SDKs for common scripting tools, and it integrates into other solutions that require an S3 like object storage without any fuss. It's also extremely lightweight for its relative performance. A minio docker deployment is 300 mb and had no issues managing versions on a few thousand different objects while acting as an "FTP" server.
