Question: Consider being given the contract to create a prototype system which will immediately be used to protect \<some asset at some event at some location>. You must protect the \<asset and its payload> while it is exposed for 48 hours before launch. The threat is 40 heterogeneous UxS drones that are arriving simultaneously. You don’t know the type of each, physical size, speed, or other details about the threat but know it could be a multi-domain (ground, sea, undersea, air), fixed-wing, multi-rotor, combustion engine, and/or battery driven. You also know top speeds of some platforms could reach 180 mph. The attack can happen day or night.

Answer these questions about your prototype:

1 What aspect of the kill chain would your prototype address (detection, Identification, tracking, C2/autonomy, mitigation, and/or CONOPS)?

2 If you don’t own the complete multi-tiered system, who would you team with to meet objectives (identify combined costs below, guestimate the best you can)?

3 RDT&E and Procurement cost for low-rate initial production (i.e. cost of first unit and projected manufacturing cost after the first unit is fielded)?

4 C2 Weapon Assignments: autonomous, semi-autonomous, or only human?

5 Anticipated probability of success?

6 Upon deployment of your prototype, what are the anticipated recurring costs (maintenance, re-load, and manpower)?
